TRUCHECK INTELLI (early cancer detection of up to 70 solid tumours)
About 4.4 million new cancers are detected every year in Europe as well as about 2 million cancer related deaths. Unfortunately, some cancers are detected at advanced stages which necessitate more intensive and expensive treatments which have greater risk of side effects. Detection of cancers at early / local stages is vital for successful treatments, lower treatment costs, lower toxicities and improved survival. Trucheck™ is the culmination of years of collaborative international research and innovation and has been developed, tested and validated on > 40.000 individuals.
Trucheck™ detects circulating tumour cells (CTCs) and clusters of these CTCs which are released by malignant tumours, but not from non-cancerous (normal / benign tumour / inflammatory) tissue. Hence CTCs are ubiquitously seen in blood of cancer patients but absent in blood of healthy individuals.
Trucheck™ intelli can distinguish ~70 types of solid tumours which account for ~81% of all cancer cases and ~84% of all cancer related deaths in Europe.
Trucheck™ has a 92.1% sensitivity in detection of cancers across all stages and types. Further Trucheck™ intelli has a 93.1% accuracy in determining the tissue or organ of origin in positive cases.
Trucheck™ displays a specificity of 99.9% (versus healthy individuals). Trucheck™ detects cancers irrespective of the extent of the disease, thus even early-stage cancers are reliably observed.

Receive a health questionnaire, consent form and order form for the test to complete.
The test kit is ordered and delivered to you, you will arrange the fasting blood draw with the help of our clinic coordinator or your referring practitioner as appropriate. We advise including a Medichecks blood test separately if you have not had a recent blood test, the blood draw for both can be done at the same time. Sample collection instructions are available via our clinic coordinator and the sample is picked up by courier.
Please book your consultation with Dr Helen with the clinic coordinator (jody@synthesisclinic.co.uk) 2-3 weeks from sample collection date. Any further preventative care advice will be picked up by your referring practitioner.
Possible test outcomes
Negative test - no evidence of solid tumours (out of the 70 types tested) detected
Where possible, over the age of 40 we would advise to re-test as close to annually as possible to maximise the chance of early detection to support better clinical outcomes.
Equivocal/indeterminate (in a very small number of patients) - free of charge re-test in 8-12 weeks
Positive test - early detection of cancer allows us to expedite your referral pathway via NHS or private care for prompt further investigation and treatment as needed. We have excellent links with private oncology partners.
Please note that the test does not cover blood cancers (haematological malignancies). The test is also NOT suitable if you have any concerning symptoms - these must be investigated by your GP as per standard of care pathways.

45 minute consultation with Dr Helen Evennett to go over test results and answer any questions, as well as discussing preventative nutrition and lifestyle measures to minimise cancer risk.
Please note that only questions pertaining to the test or general health promotion/preventative health will be answered. This is not a consultation for any other health problems, and no questions relating to the management of pre-existing conditions or diagnoses will be answered.
NOT INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE COST
Phlebotomy (blood draw) fees - this is usually in the region of £25-50 depending on the blood draw providers
Additional blood tests - we would usually recommend doing a fasting blood draw one of the tests below to help us personalise the discussion and recommendations around your overall health and wellbeing and preventative care. Please note that the blood draw for TruCheck may sometimes be done at the same time, these bottles would need to be filled first prior to any Medichecks.
